Bloomsburg Baseball Falls to Columbia Union

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University baseball team dropped a doubleheader against Columbia Union in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon. The Huskies fell in game one, 12-6, and in game two, 5-3.
In game one, Columbia Union raced out to a 4-0 lead courtesy of a strong pitching performance from Tom Rodgers. The Huskies offense would get started in the 4th inning, when Donaven Rodriguez (Manheim/Manheim Central) singled in Matt Allen (Willamsport/Clarion) to cut the Columbia Union lead to three.
Bloomsburg would cut the Pioneers lead to two in the bottom of the sixth when Rich Letts (Parkesburg/Octorara) hit a two-run single to cut the lead to 6-4, but that was as close as the Huskies would come.
In game two, the Pioneers had a 3-0 in the second inning before Keenan McCann (Hanover Twp. (Hanover) hit a two-run single that scored Allen and Kevin Ward (Upper Darby/Monsignor Bonner) to cut the lead to one, followed by an Anthony Forman (Richboro/Council Rock South) double to score McCann, tying the game at three. Bloomsburg would come no closer as Columbia Union would score two more runs to secure the victory.
With the loss, Bloomsburg falls to 8-25 on the season.
The Huskies return to action on Friday when they travel to East Stroudsburg for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
